LGBT Counselling in Perth
(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender)
Anxiety, depression and low self-esteem are mental health issues that can impact anyone, regardless of one’s sexual orientation or gender identity. However, for individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT), the sources of mental distress are much higher. Coming to terms with one’s sexuality or gender identity, dealing with homophobia, transphobia and discrimination, and being rejected by the people we love are all aspects that have the potential to cause significant emotional and psychological distress. These issues can impact many aspects of our life, including mental health, self-worth, relationships, alcohol and drug use, and physical health.
Conveniently located north and south of the river in Perth, I offer professional counselling and psychotherapy services covering a wide range of LGBT issues. See details below. My aim is to support you to develop healthy and satisfying relationships, and to feel positive about your sexual orientation or gender identity.

Uncomfortable with your sexual orientation?
Individuals who are uncomfortable identifying as gay, lesbian or bisexual come to see me with a range of issues, such as uncertainty about their sexual orientation, navigating the ‘coming out’ process, sexual concerns, religious concerns, social acceptance and self-acceptance.
Comfortable with your sexual orientation?
Same-sex attracted individuals also seek counselling concerning a variety of other issues that can affect each and every one of us, regardless of sexual orientation. These include relationship issues such as dating, fidelity, jealousy and trust, alcohol and drug issues, and mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, past trauma and low self-esteem.
Support:
I have a keen interest in working with and supporting the gay community. Talking through the difficulties you face with a trained therapist in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment, can lead to new possibilities, strategies and skills to overcome your concerns.

LGBT Concerned Families
I am particularly passionate about helping families support their lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) children. Family acceptance can have a hugely positive impact on the overall well-being of people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.
I offer guidance on how to support a loved one who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, alcohol and drug misuse, or suicidal ideation as a result of ‘being different’. I also provide information, guidance and support to family members who are struggling to understand or accept that their loved one identifies as LGBT.
